In contrast to simply being free from illness or disability, the World Health Organization (WHO) definition of health as “a condition of overall physical, intellectual, overall social wellbeing”. This is in line with the biopsychosocial approach to health, which takes interconnections among social, mental, and physiological variables in well-being and disease into account.

Wellbeing and Psychological Health

Expanding the concepts of wellness has helped to increase awareness of the mental component of health and welfare and the importance of mental healthcare to overall health. But since the administration’s No Health Without Behavioral Health initiative was released in 2011.


The Connection Between Mental and Physical Health

The traditional idea of mind-body dualism is being challenged by mounting research that shows a significant connection among personal health. Physical and psychological health are inseparably intertwined. The biopsychosocial theory of health identifies physical, behavioral, and social processes as potential contributors to this connection.


Social and psychological hazard

Because psychological and social lifestyle factors for both health disorders frequently coexist, it can be challenging to discern when the mental disease comes before physical sickness or the other way around. According to The Kings Fund, over 4 million individuals in England who have a chronic physical health issues simultaneously struggle with issues of mental health.
